The brain is a funny thing. It requires constant stimulation and exercise to operate at its peak level. New experiences require it to work. New tastes, new smells, new sights, but those are often an expensive form of brain training. Learning a foreign language can be a very great way to develop the mind. And I should know; for I have not only been studying languages since I was a child” first by French classes in elementary school in Canada and later majoring in Spanish (and taking French and German also) in college, but I have studied a number of languages on my own. There have been numerous studies that have confirmed that social interaction can help keep a person’s mind sharp. One study analyzed over 3,600 people from the ages of 24 to the age of 96 to verify that talking to just one person for only 10 minutes a day can help boost mental function. Talking to other people can keep the mind just as sharp as if the person was doing mental exercises.

After your years of formal education are over, some people feel that they are done with the learning process. Whether you’ve just gotten your high school diploma and or have gone through graduate school, education never ends.
