You are bored, depressed; you think that grey matter is growing. (I don’t think the grey matter is really grey, but maybe it is.) The thing is, the grey matter is not productive, it is benign. It is just existing. There is not stretching and growing of mental cells. Though the grey matter is benign, it can still take in thoughts.
Consider Volunteering As A Way To Improve Mental Well-Being. Numerous studies have shown that human cells are affected by thoughts, especially thoughts pertaining to our emotions.Didn’t catch that? This explains it.
Though we don’t live by categorizing the aspects of life, our living elements spill over into other living elements. Concern about finances will spill into family relationships. Irritation with your spouse may affect your sleeping habits. What better place for unpleasant thoughts to land than in the grey matter.
Also we have thoughts going on twenty four hours a day. Perhaps you think you don’t dream. But you do, you just don’t remember the dreams. Those dreams are affecting your well being. Try something. Put a pen and paper close to you bed. Before slipping into sleep tell your self you are going to remember part of a dream and record it on the paper. Still don’t remember, stay with it.
Let’s think about that grey matter again. How much time do you spend watching television? What kind of emotions does a soap opera create?
Now, let’s think of something more productive. Let’s think of volunteering. You don’t even have to think of what type. Just thinking in terms of scheduling a day and what to wear gets you thoughts buzzing. Consider also the additional physical activity that will entail.
More important you are giving of your self. There is no better way of promoting self-being than in giving volunteer time to others.
